====== Nextcloud – Files, Sharing & Sync ====== Nextcloud is our **private family Dropbox**. Use it for documents, scans, school files, and anything we don’t want living on someone else’s cloud. ===== How to Access ===== * **Web:** https://next.torresvault.com * Log in with your **TorresVault username & password** (same as other apps). * If you have trouble logging in, see [[apps:sso|Login & Accounts (SSO)]]. ===== First-Time Setup (Phone / Tablet) ===== ==== Android ==== - Install **“Nextcloud”** from the Play Store. - Server address: **https://next.torresvault.com** - Log in with your TorresVault account. - (Optional) Enable: - Automatic camera uploads → choose folder: `/Family Photos//Phone` ==== iOS (iPhone / iPad) ==== - Install **“Nextcloud”** from the App Store. - Server: **https://next.torresvault.com** - Log in with your TorresVault account. - Enable: - *Auto Upload* for photos (optional, Immich is the primary photo backup) ===== Where to Put Things ===== Recommended structure: * `/Family Vault/Important Documents` * `/Family Vault/House & Home` * `/Family Vault/Garden` * `/Family Vault/Cars` * `/Family Vault/Manuals & Warranties` * `/Shared/` – personal shared folder if needed ===== Common Tasks ===== ==== Upload a File ==== - Open Nextcloud in the browser or app. - Go to the folder where you want the file. - Click **“+” → Upload** and choose your file. ==== Share a File with Family ==== - Find the file. - Click **Share** (icon). - In the “Users” field, type the family member’s name. - Choose if they can: - [x] Read - [ ] Edit (only if needed) ==== Share a File with Someone Outside the Family ==== - Open the file → **Share**. - Enable **Public link**. - (Optional) Set: - Expiration date - Password ===== Backup & Safety Notes ===== * The server is backed up regularly as part of **TorresVault**. * You still can keep your own copies of critical documents if you want, but Nextcloud is our main “single source of truth”. ===== Troubleshooting ===== * **Login fails:** Check Caps Lock, then see [[apps:sso|Login & Accounts (SSO)]]. * **Sync is stuck on phone:** Toggle airplane mode, reopen the app. * **Out of space:** Let Nathan know so we can grow storage.
