Nextcloud – Files, Sharing & Sync

Nextcloud is our private family Dropbox. Use it for documents, scans, school files, and anything we don’t want living on someone else’s cloud.

• Log in with your TorresVault username & password (same as other apps).
• If you have trouble logging in, see Login & Accounts (SSO).

1. Install “Nextcloud” from the Play Store.
2. Server address: https://next.torresvault.com
3. Log in with your TorresVault account.
4. (Optional) Enable:
   1. Automatic camera uploads → choose folder: `/Family Photos/<YourName>/Phone`

1. Install “Nextcloud” from the App Store.
2. Server: https://next.torresvault.com
3. Log in with your TorresVault account.
4. Enable:
   1. *Auto Upload* for photos (optional, Immich is the primary photo backup)

Recommended structure:

• `/Family Vault/Important Documents`
• `/Family Vault/House & Home`
• `/Family Vault/Garden`
• `/Family Vault/Cars`
• `/Family Vault/Manuals & Warranties`
• `/Shared/<PersonName>` – personal shared folder if needed

1. Open Nextcloud in the browser or app.
2. Go to the folder where you want the file.
3. Click “+” → Upload and choose your file.

1. Find the file.
2. Click Share (icon).
3. In the “Users” field, type the family member’s name.
4. Choose if they can:
   1. [x] Read
   2. [ ] Edit (only if needed)

1. Open the file → Share.
2. Enable Public link.
3. (Optional) Set:
   1. Expiration date
   2. Password

• The server is backed up regularly as part of TorresVault.
• You still can keep your own copies of critical documents if you want, but Nextcloud is our main “single source of truth”.

• Login fails: Check Caps Lock, then see Login & Accounts (SSO).
• Sync is stuck on phone: Toggle airplane mode, reopen the app.
• Out of space: Let Nathan know so we can grow storage.
