Nextcloud – Files, Sharing & Sync

Nextcloud is our private family Dropbox. Use it for documents, scans, school files, and anything we don’t want living on someone else’s cloud.

How to Access

First-Time Setup (Phone / Tablet)

Android

  1. Install “Nextcloud” from the Play Store.
  2. Log in with your TorresVault account.
  3. (Optional) Enable:
    1. Automatic camera uploads → choose folder: `/Family Photos/<YourName>/Phone`

iOS (iPhone / iPad)

  1. Install “Nextcloud” from the App Store.
  2. Log in with your TorresVault account.
  3. Enable:
    1. *Auto Upload* for photos (optional, Immich is the primary photo backup)

Common Tasks

Upload a File

  1. Open Nextcloud in the browser or app.
  2. Go to the folder where you want the file.
  3. Click “+” → Upload and choose your file.

Share a File with Family

  1. Find the file.
  2. Click Share (icon).
  3. In the “Users” field, type the family member’s name.
  4. Choose if they can:
    1. [x] Read
    2. [ ] Edit (only if needed)

Share a File with Someone Outside the Family

  1. Open the file → Share.
  2. Enable Public link.
  3. (Optional) Set:
    1. Expiration date
    2. Password
